things change

Recording Star

Stella loves to sit at daddy's desk, she loves to sing, and she loves to play her "guitar". So why not all three!

Cathey "Cat Stella" superstar!

So Stella has got to a very fun stage where she can tell use what it is that she actually wants, (instead of just making noise until we guess).

While this is really awesome and fun, it creates a new problem. What do you do when you are in the middle of hanging art and your daughter is pointing at the guitar hanging on the wall saying 'garr!' over and over? Is there really anyway to ignore that!

Cathey 'Sunrise' Estelle

Stella is now 8 months old, it has been a fun time. We have started a sleeping pattern that has me up and watching her some time between 4 and 6 ( her new nickname is sunrise). Watching her sleep (some time in a sling some time in the bed) Is kind of surreal. She is so peaceful so content (with interruptions, but allways back to peaceful) and it wares off on me. I become relaxed and centered. My mind wanders, from solving work problems, to thinking about politics to almost anything, but never stops long enough to disturb my baby bliss.

Fun and thanks over the last month

So we are midway through stella's second month and are starting to get the hang of somethings (which of course means other things popup). The first month was made alot easier by two factors, one we had all kinds of stuff that really help. Besides all of the sleeping locations for Stella, my sister gave us all of these hand me down diapers, and we have have enough outfits for an army of baby (a really cute army).

Daddy for three weeks and 2 days

So we have made it though another week. Things are still really awesome (who know that projectile poop could be so much fun). I think Cris and I have slid into our new roles well, and each day brings new challenges.

We have move the cradle that my grandpa built in next to my desk, so Stella can take naps there next to me. The sling has not worked out ... yet, but we are still trying.

Daddy for two weeks and a day

Well I have been a dad now for two weeks and a day. It has been really great. I always thought that I would love it, and it turns out I underestimated. Cathey Estelle "Stella" Summerfield was born on July 7th at 10:16pm after 44 hours of labor (she was name about 2 days or so after that). I hope to post a whole birth story, but for now I just want to get out how happy I am.

California Dreaming

... This morning I woke up and felt firecracker moving around. Cris was still asleep, as I pressed my hand against her belly. Through the sheet I felt a little hand, and my face lit up.

Next, that hand moved towards the head of the bed, followed by an arm, and then I saw a whole figure move up the sheet past Cris' breast and start to peak out of the covers. This woke up Cris and we both laid in amazement as firecracker emerged from the sheets!

First Blog post for phase2

I made my first post on my new company (Phase2technology) today, kind of neat to be posting from elsewhere on the web (with someone editing your content!).

Music has come to

Well after thinking about it for way to long I have added a music section to Here I will be putting up recordings of my songs. The first song up is my newest, your my little fetus, and ode to my little firecracker. Hopefully more will becoming, I have a few recorded, but I do not have releases for all of the artist, so hopefully I will be able to get them.

Oh, and there is a feed of all recordings recordings feed

Dream conversations with my pregnant wife

Cris has always talk in her sleep a little here and there, and every once and a while I will get a whole conversation with her. But the other night was by far the best. here is the transcript:

Cris: Are you going to show me it? (a little annoyed)
Erik: Show you what?
Cris: The drawing!? (more annoyed)
Erik: What drawing?
Cris: The drawing of your birth! (very exacerbated)
(Cris starts to sit up)
Erik: are you awake?
Cris: Yes, I have to use the bathroom
(Cris goes to the bathroom and come back, climbs into bed)
Erik: Do you have a drawing of your birth?
